For a given definition of "working".

It needs some maintenance. There are 4744 new accounts awaiting approval.

Oops.

Well it's certainly livened up now. You approved them all?

... seeing the light of the god of successful DIY, and defying the demons of destroy-it-yourself.

Why did no one tell me about gripit plasterboard fixings before?

****ing genius. I'm going to screw everything to the plasterboard now.

Sheffield City Council has announced a ground-breaking and unprecedented initiative with a major biscuit manufacturer, to upgrade and maintain the city’s biscuits. This much-needed work will be funded by external lenders, in a scheme known as a ‘Penguin Finance Initiative.’

The first five years of the programme will see large biscuits, such as Wagon Wheels and Party Rings, replaced with Iced Gems.

Biscuit lover Kathryn Kat said “That’s just bonkers: you need at least ten Iced Gems to replace one Wagon Wheel!”

The council has committed the city to eating 50,000 biscuits per person in the first five years, with disastrous financial consequences if this target isn’t met. Many experts - including nutritionists and diabetes consultants - have already condemned the scheme, expressing alarm at the anticipated increase in obesity and diabetes as a direct result of this excessive and unnecessary biscuit consumption. Councillor Barry Larder, cabinet member for Cream Teas and Confectionery, has dismissed this as “voodoo science”. He said “At the end of the contract, Sheffield will have more and better biscuits.”

The Sheffield Biscuit Strategy lists alternative biscuits suitable for different needs, such as gluten-free for coeliacs and Pink Wafer biscuits for people who have lost their dentures. But critics say they have yet to see any of these options available. Avid biscuit lovers have searched the city, but to no avail, and have resorted to dunking Ginger Nuts in their tea to provide a suitable soft biscuit.

When asked about this, the council’s Head of Diets Peter Kiplington said “Pink Wafers have been provided on 143 occasions. We don’t have any details to prove it, but I’ve definitely been to the factory”. Pink Wafer manufacturers Rivingtons were approached for comment, and denied ever having been contacted by the council.

A Freedom of Information request revealed that gluten-free biscuits will cost the council £10 per pack. Ms Carmel Bar checked in her local Tesco and found them for less than £2. The council denied that they were being ripped off, insisting that if McVities say it costs £10, they must be right.

Brilliant!

I'm also happy to have recently made a new FB friend! ;)

We, as in, you, me and Obs, should have an IRL beer again, to celebrate :D

I'd be up for it too, let's arrange it in real life.

It would take about 5 1/2 years to organise on here I calculated.

Meanwhile this cheered me up, officially the best video on the internet,

Had a trip to London yesterday, mainly to go to the Fine Art Society to pick up a purchase. It's an amazing building and you're free to wander around and see what they have. It's all very Arts&Craftsy with lots of Wafty Girls.

Then noticed the Maas Gallery across the road and went in for a natter. Then walked back through Soho, got a kilo of some impressive Vietnamese Coffee from the most amazing coffee shop in the world, it's pretty much the same as it was when it opened 130 years ago.

Oh, also realised we must be near the late Sebastian Horsely's house so sought it out. It's now a walk-up brothel in one of the few remaining proper sleazy parts.

We went to the same school. I blame the teachers.

We went to the Scythians exhibition at the British Museum before all that. It was utterly amazing on a variety of levels. The BM is mainstream isn't it?

Then we went to the pub across the road from the museum. I wasn't going to use my camera, but I had to get it out to photograph the toilets once I realised that all the Victorian greats had been in there.
