Why do reggae stars never die of old age? A remarkable number died of lead poisoning of the high velocity variety whilst many of the the rest died of illness at a relatively young age.

Possibly a combination of heavy smoking and living in a 3rd world country, I'd imagine?

You need to give them a chance to get there!

They don't get that chance. They get shot or die of some horrible illness first.

Having said that Toots Hibbert was looking very healthy at Glastonbury.

Bunny Wailer is still alive and must be getting on a bit?

Yes Bunny Wailer is still alive, but it's only him and Beverly Kelso who still survive out of the original Wailers - Junior Braithwaite · Beverley Kelso · Bunny Wailer · Peter Tosh · Cherry Smith · Constantine "Vision" Walker · Earl "Chinna" Smith · Aston Barrett · Joe Higgs · Earl Lindo · Carlton Barrett.

Being a reggae musician has a high mortality rate.

An odd way for a Buddhist to go but the signs were there.

One of my favourite linguisms abounded around this death: "he was literally larger than life!" Well, no he wasn't, he was the size he was and he was alive. He may have been figuratively larger than life, tho.

Anyway, RIP Cyril, one of the few that seemed to give a **** about us proles.

Was the song "Nice One Cyril" written about him?

It's amazing that someone that size can live to be 82.
